I did it!!!
I didn't sleep very well last night. My girlfriend's husband was out of town and she couldn't meet me at the track this morning. I was in a dilemma as to what to do. Should I just chance it and go by myself to the track at 4:00am or should I run the risk of not finishing my 20 miler because I had to wait til daylight and it would get too hot to run that long. I decided to play it by ear. I woke up to the alarm at 3:30 and went through all of the long run rituals. I headed for the track and found a truck sitting in the parking lot. HMMMM kind of scary especially because I couldn't get the thought of the elementary school and this very high school being in lock down yesterday afternoon because of 3 armed men were on the loose in the neighborhood after a house robbery. I decided to head to the gym which I thought was open at 4:00am. It wasn't open til 4:30, AAAHHHHH so I drove back to the track. I ran with two men walking on the track. I was so dang tense that I decided to call Angie who is 3 hours earlier than me and I know that she would gladly talk to me while I ran til it was daylight. She didn't answer. Around 5:30am FINALLY some of my friends arrived. :o( The p.e. class came out around mile 16 so I decided to run a couple of miles out on the streets. It was just so tempting to turn down my street and make Kelly go fetch my car but I only had 2 1/2 miles left so I ended up back at the track with 2 miles left. There was a lady trying to finish up an 8 mile run so we just kept waving and encouraging each other. After 3 potty breaks and 4 3/4 hours later I finally finished! The last 2 miles took me 45 minutes to run. I actually had to walk a lap and run a lap the last mile but dang it I finished, limping all the way back to the car. Man my knee hurt. It's 4:30 in the afternoon right now and I finally am up off of the couch. Kelly has been fetching me drinks and sandwiches all day and even put socks on my poor little crampy feet. Thanks Kelly! I have to lay on the couch and concentrate on staying relaxed so my legs and feet don't cramp up on me. Totally on the verge of muscle cramps for 4 hours is tiring but hey, I'm almost there. Three weeks from tomorrow!!!! Man this is the last marathon for me. Only half's if anything. Well, don't feel like you have to comment on this blog. It's pretty boring and it's purpose is really just so next time I will remember how foolish this is and I will just say no to the next marathon. Hailey has to run her 2nd 20 miler tomorrow.. Good Luck Hailey!!!

I am amazed at what you do -- with leg cramps and all! I can hardly wait to hear how you do in the marathon!
i would have been freaking myself out the whole time!
I am seriously and totally impressed! Way to go!
YIKES!!!
you. are. crazy!
and fantastic!
um scary to be all alone like that. I would much rather stay in bed than wake up and run! But I am impressed that you are doing it, you rock!
You are awesome. I would love to train for a marathon- OK maybe 1/2 of one--my darn knee keeps me from doing it. Good luck! I think it is fantastic you are doing it.
Where do you find that ounce of strength to even get up that early??!! I am soooo impressed! I am beat after only an hour on the treadmill! I didn't even think about how hard it would be to train for marathons in warmer places! You are iron maiden!
